Pinsent Masons Regulatory Conference. October 23. International risk.

Print Friendly

pinsentWe figure people want to understand the mindset of the prosecutor, what their peers are doing when it comes to compliance and learn from other businesses who, shall we say, have more experience than most of compliance…and in some cases non compliance (allegedly).

With the Director of the Serious Fraud Office, representatives from the US, Norway and other regulators as well as the Chief Compliance Officers from Rolls Royce, Shell and the Global Chief Operating Officer (COO), Regulatory Risk & Compliance for RBS Global Banking and Markets, we think we delivered.

On top of this stellar line up we’ve added into the mix a former Sales Vice President for a UK headquartered company who reached a fork in the road, made some bad decisions and paid the (heavy) price.  So you can see into the mindset of your employees at the coal face.

The Pinsent Masons regulatory conference.

During the morning the focus is on key note speakers from law enforcement and in house counsel of global companies who will share with us their insight and perspectives.  In the afternoon we shall break for workshops and break out sessions.  The day will close in the afternoon with a reminder of the importance of effective compliance for corporates and their employees, with an interview with Richard Bistrong.  We’ve reproduced the flyer in full below.  At the time of writing there are not many places left.  For those that can’t make it, we shall of course be posting articles.

We expect the day will provide insight, an opportunity to network and some thought provoking discussion.

It would be nice to see you there.

Risk and reward are two sides of the same coin. GSK, Deepwater Horizon, Rolls Royce, LIBOR, FOREX are just some headline grabbing examples of what can happen when it goes wrong.
Keynote speaker and panellists confirmed for the conference include:

  • David Green, Director, Serious Fraud Office (Keynote speaker);
  • Marianne Djupesland, Senior Prosecutor, OkoKrim (The Norwegian National Authority for; Investigation and Prosecution of Economic and Environmental Crime);

Richard Bistrong will join the speaker line up at this year’s Regulatory Conference after our breakout sessions in the afternoon.  Mr Bistrong was a former international sales executive and FBI/UK co-operator who pleaded guilty to bribery offenses and served 14 months in a US federal prison.  Mr Bistrong will share his experiences and insights ‘at the sharp end’.

Additional speakers will be announced in due course.

The conference is relevant to International Businesses, General Counsel, in house legal teams, compliance officers, CFO’s and Senior Management Teams.

The morning will be split into two key sessions. First, in one session, prosecutors and investigators will focus on international investigations and prosecutions – objectives and emerging trends. Afterwards, compliance experts will offer their insight and war stories on dealing with the challenge of doing business globally.

In the afternoon experts from Pinsent Masons and Industry will share their experience from private practice and in house in a series of targeted breakout sessions.
